Day 1You will check in for your day flight to Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. On arrival at Kilimanjaro, you will be met and transferred to Rivertrees Country Inn where you will stay for 1 night on a B&B basis.
Rivertrees Country Inn is just 20 minutes from the airport and is set in several acres of tranquil gardens and farmland along the Usa River. Combining colonial-style ambience and African country elegance with warm hospitality and superb farm cooking, Rivertrees is a very comfortable retreat on the outskirts of the city of Arusha.
Day 2This morning you will be transferred to the airport to catch the shared transfer to Mahale Mountains National Park. You will be met on arrival and taken to Greystoke Camp where you will stay for 4 nights on a fully inclusive basis.
Mahale is a fantastically beautiful place where the mountains drop down to the shores of Lake Tanganyika. The National Park was created in 1985 and is predominantly a chimpanzee sanctuary to some of the last remaining wild chimpanzees in Africa.
Greystoke Camp is a luxury camp situated on the shores of Lake Tanganyika with the dramatic Mahale Mountains behind. There are no roads for 60 miles so the camp is wonderfully remote and secluded. There are six simple tents with a magnificent private bathroom and a shady veranda with a table on which your early morning tea or coffee is left.
Day 6Today you will be transferred to the airstrip to fly back to Arusha, where you will be
met and transferred to Rivertrees Country Inn to stay for the night.
Day 7This morning you will be transferred to Arusha Airport to fly to the Selous. You will be met at the airstrip and transferred to Sand Rivers Selous where you will stay for 4 nights on a fully inclusive basis.
The Selous Game Reserve is the biggest reserve in Africa. It is a wild and beautiful area that hasn't really opened up to tourism in a huge way. The animals are not used to seeing many people and are therefore quite wild but you are seeing them in a totally natural and unspoilt environment.
The site for Sand Rivers Selous was carefully chosen for its isolation, diversity of game, ecosystems and landscapes. The lodge is built entirely from local materials, with spectacular views over the magnificent Rufiji River. Renovated in 2007, it has four standard cottages, two suites and the Rhino House.
Day 11Today you will be transferred to the airstrip to fly to Zanzibar and on to Pemba. You will be met on arrival in Pemba and transferred to Fundu Lagoon where you will stay for 4 nights on a full-board basis.
Pemba is Zanzibar's forgotten island, a lush, tropical oasis with pristine beaches to the north of Zanzibar. A beautiful island of contrasts with clove plantations – its main trade
– rice fields, hilly terrain and palm-fringed beaches, it is much less developed than
Zanzibar and offers a truly authentic Swahili coast experience.Fundu Lagoon is one of only two luxury lodges on this relatively unspoilt island. Set on
4.5 kilometres of white sandy coastline on the secluded Wambaa Peninsular, it is a
friendly, relaxed haven of peace and outstanding natural beauty with 14 luxury en-suite bungalows. With quality activities and comfortable surroundings, it is designed for couples and groups of friends looking to escape the usual holiday crowds, as well as keen divers and watersports lovers.
Day 15This morning you will be transferred to the Chake Chake airstrip to fly to Zanzibar and
on to Dar es Salaam to connect with your overnight flight back.
